Seed Distribution programme in Gujarat and East Uttar Pradesh

Based on rapid survey results over majority farmers are worried for the upcoming Kharif season availability of seeds being among the dominant reasons. In UP, rice seeds alongside pulse and vegetable seeds are being distributed for nutritional diversity. In Gujarat, beej nidhi, a seed distribution program is being implemented where women farmers make small deposits at Self Help Groups (SHGs) to secure Maize/rice, pulses and vegetable seed kits. This deposit can will help future credit needs of the group members.

Number of villages- 218 (UP) + 53 (Gujarat)

Number of farmers supported- 24,600

Quantity of seed distributed- 53,400 Kilogram
